@ Venuram - Nikon CoolpixP100 is a good workhorse. You need to get out of Auto mode. There are many options available with your camera like Manual/Shutter Priority/AV Mode. Here is an interesting site simulates a Photo you can try different apertures and shutters to affect a photos light, depth and motion blur.
